Fanny dreams

I’ve been learning quite a lot during my training here in London. Possibly the coolest thing I’ve learned so far – opening a fan (like those Spanish ones) with one hand. It’s cooler than smoking with Tom Cruise while wearing sunglasses.

Speaking of dreams, I went to see Inception. I think I enjoyed it. As Sandy in work said “Bit of a mind fuck”. It definitely has one of the coolest and most original actions sequences I’ve seen since this(at least the first minute of it).

Something I miss from home (apart from people obviously!!…*cough*) is Eddie Rockets. I did see one very similar though! I think it was called Rockets or something.

I bought a comic at the weekend called Red Son. Basically, it’s a what-if scenario about Superman, landing in Soviet Russia instead of USA. Instead of Truth and Justice for All, he is “…the Champion of the common worker who fights a never-ending battle for Stalin, socialism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact”. Isn’t his costume cool?! Also stars Batmanakov

A second take on Avatar

April 27, 2010 1 comment

So I went to Avatar whenever the hell it came out. And I watched it and thought it was alright, not that visually stunning cause the 3D gave me a headache. I thought the story was good and enjoyable, much like Titanic is.

So I bought it at the weekend on Blu-Ray because it was on special offer. And I have to say, it was far more enjoyable mainly because it was easier to watch. If the 3-D version of the film was, to quote some eejit, “how James Cameron wanted me to see it” then poor Mr Cameron needs laser eye surgery. Or a seeing eye dog at the very least. Once again, this has reaffirmed my belief that 3-D is in fact a load of nonsense

Gott in Himmel!

I’ve been looking at foreign translations of Disney songs recently (particularly in German as I did that for the LC). Check out “Prinz Ali” below. Especially the women in the middle who want to groan because Ali is so hot and want to divorce their husbands and are ravished by Ali. But what really drives them crazy is his clothes..

Other ones to watch for include the Snow White monkeys from China (where else would they be from?) and Alis nobleness verging on mania

Movie Mistakes

I was watching a program on movie mistakes. Like when something is a certain color in one scene and different in the next. The best one I got a lol out of went like this:

“A huge mistake here in this James Bond clip. Let’s see if you spot it”
“Catch that? Let’s rewind and take another look”
“Yes, you got it in one! It was of course casting George Lazenby as James Bond”

Lol

Heavy Rain? Heavy Game!

March 23, 2010 Leave a comment

Good GOD! What a game! And I’m not even finished it! A bit I just recently played actually forced me to pause the game and say “There’s no morally right choice here! What do I do?!”. It really immerses you in to the game/story line. You ACTUALLY start to give a shit about the characters like you would in a TV series. You can’t save yourself either, its all autosave (be it very frequently). So if you fuck up, you can’t go back and try a different way! It’s fantastic!!!

3-D! It’s almost like you can reach out and TOUCH the headache…

March 7, 2010 1 comment

So I went to see my second 3-D film last night, Alice in Wonderland, the first being Avatar). Now, when I came out of Avatar I had quite a bad headache and really didn’t think much of the 3-D effects. If anything I found them annoying, distracting and they really didn’t add a whole lot to the film. However, I was quite tired when I went to see it and put it down to pure tiredness. So I gave 3-D the benefit of the doubt and gave it another shot last night. Same result. It added absolutely feck all to the film, except when the March Hare is throwing cups around. I came out with a headache again and felt quite disorientated. It’s a fad. A nonsense, pointless technology that should have stayed in the 70’s.

The disorientation was also fueled by the general oddness of the film. It was very weird. Overall, it was good. But just good. Helena Bonham Carter was class. But that was all really

I don’t like homophobia. And I love George Takei. So I really loved this video:
